
Biography
Jonathan has lived across the Western U.S. but proudly calls the Pacific Northwest home. He currently resides in Spokane, WA, with his wife, Crystal, and their newborn son, Kai. Growing up in Seattle in a non-hunting household, Jonathan found his early passion in fly-fishing and always aspired to learn hunting. While studying Natural Resource Ecology at the University of Idaho and playing football for the Vandals, Jonathan was immersed in a community deeply connected to hunting traditions. Introduced first to upland bird hunting and later to big game, Jonathan quickly became captivated by the sport, marking the start of a lifelong journey.
With decades of experience leading social justice and conservation organizations, Jonathan leverages his MBA in sustainable business to expand opportunities for people of color in the private sector. His leadership has been instrumental in bridging gaps in representation and fostering inclusive environments within the conservation community. Jonathan’s strategic mindset and commitment to equity have driven significant growth and impactful change in every organization he’s been part of, making him a pivotal member of the Hunters of Color team.
Jonathan’s personal experiences have underscored the critical need for sustainable, structural changes in systems that historically exclude people of color. As a hunter who had to carve out his own connection to the rich legacies of people of color in hunting and fishing, Jonathan is passionate about redefining the hunting community to be more inclusive and welcoming. At Hunters of Color, he dedicates his skills and passion to ensuring that both new and seasoned hunters of color feel seen, supported, and empowered to participate fully in the outdoors, driving forward HOC’s mission of making the outdoors accessible for everyone.
